How to configure passcode option in Mac,iOS and Android


The passcode is a string of characters or purely numeric such as the personal identification number (PIN) used for authentication on a digital device. It builds the walls against being unauthorized especially to gain access to a computer or smartphone. Through ITSM, we can set a passcode to a device and manage all the endpoint with security.

There are three options under "Passcode" in ITSM,

  • Set Screen Passcode- This is used to set the passcode for the screen at the endpoint
  • Reset Screen Passcode - This helps to reset with different passcode's
  • Lock - This option will lock the screen at the endpoint

Go to ITSM → DEVICES → Device list

 

Actions with the passcode in Mac OS

Note: Only lock action can be performed by Mac devices

i)Lock

Step[1]: Click on the enrolled mac machine then go to passcode option button and select "Lock" option from the drop-down.

 

Step[2]: After clicking on "lock macOS device" box appears by asking for a PIN code, enter the random number and click "OK" button to save the changes.

Note: The administrator should share the custom PIN code to the end - user for signing in to the machine

You can see the device is locked and asking for the passcode to sign in.

 

Action with the passcode in iOS

Note: Reset Screen passcode and lock action can be performed by iOS devices

i)Reset Screen Passcode

Step[1]: Click on Ios devices then go to passcode option button and select "Reset Screen passcode" option from the drop-down.

Note: If the passcode is reset, the end-user prompted to set a new passcode at the endpoint.

Changes made at the endpoint

To reset the Passcode, enter the new Passcode and click "Continue" button.

Re-enter the new passcode and click "Save" button. Now the passcode has been reset at the endpoint.

ii)Lock

Step[1]: Click on iOS devices then go to passcode option button and select "Lock" option from the drop-down.

Note: This option will lock the device and you can use your existing passcode to sign in to your device.

you can see the device has been locked.

 

Actions with the passcode in Android OS

i) Set Screen Passcode

Step[1]: Click on the enrolled Andriod device then go to passcode option button and select "Set Screen Passcode" option from the drop-down.

Note: This option helps you to set a new passcode to your enrolled device and the administrator should share the custom password to the end - user for signing in to the machine

Step[2]: After clicking on "Set New Screen-lock Password" appears by asking for the new Password, Enter the random characters and click "Set" button to set the password at the endpoint.

Note: Passcode must be from 4 to 16 characters long

Changes made at the endpoint:

You can see the device got locked and asking for the password to sign in.

ii) Reset Screen Passcode

Step[1]: Click on the enrolled Andriod device then go to passcode option button and select "Reset Screen Passcode" option from the drop-down.

Note: This option will just reset the existing passcode, it is not mandatory to set with another password.

Changes made at the endpoint:

iii) Lock

Step[1]: Click on the enrolled Andriod device then go to passcode option button and select "Lock" option from the drop-down.

Note: This option will lock the device and you can use your existing passcode to sign in to your device

Changes made at the endpoint:

You can see the device has been locked at the endpoint.
